[ TYPE or BREED ] Most people confuse types of horses and breeds. The two are different. A type of horse is a term to indicate a similar group of breeds. For example, common types of horses are Draft Horse, Warmblood, Canadian cutting horse, Gaited horse, etc. and common breeds are Paint Horse, Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Lusitanian, etc. A type usually does not have a breed registry.
