[ SPORT ] The Florida state veterinarian confirmed today that the cause of the death of the 21 horses was in a vitamin and mineral supplement. All the horse that died received an injection of vitamin B, potassium, magnesium and selenium before the match. The toxicology tests showed there was too much selenium in the blood and tissue of the dead horses. Selenium is toxic in large doses but essential for normal cell function.
A Florida pharmacy acknowledge last week making an error while mixing the supplement.
