Collision Between Two Horses at the Kentucky Derby Workout

A tragic event occurred yesterday on the Churchill Downs race track, costing the life of Raspberry Miss, a two year old filly, which waited close to the finishing line with its jockey. Both were struck by Doctor Rap, a 3 year old horse, which, after having thrown its jockey on the ground, panicked.

The jockey of Raspberry Miss was ejected by the force of the impact, but was not wounded. Unfortunately, the filly did not have this chance: it died at the veterinary hospital. As for Doctor Rap, it only suffered light wounds.

This fatal collision marks a sad beginning for race fans in preparation for the 135^th edition of the famous Kentucky Derby which will be held this Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 in Louisville, Kentucky (USA).
